The exhibit encourages curiosity, observation, and critical thinking, helping kids see data not as abstract information, but as something connected to their own experiences and choices. Through guided adventures, kids will gain foundational data literacy skills in an engaging and hands-on way:
The touchscreen kiosk operates as a walk‑up, self‑guided experience with no facilitation required, making it perfect for continuous museum floor use. After getting introduced to Daphne, the data-drawing dragon, visitors select from two themed adventures: Bars in the Jungle using bar charts or Pies with Pets learning about pie graphs.
Each activity begins with a challenge that Daphne needs help solving using data. Kids drag and drop elements to build charts that unlock answers to real-world problems. After helping Daphne and her friends, there is a chance to contribute to community data by answering a question. Responses are incorporated into a collective visual in real-time, so every visit changes the story.
